Automation system for Vacuum-Arc Furnaces
Integrated automation system for control of vacuum-arc melting (KSAU VAP)
The complex automatic control system (KSAU VDP) is designed:
- for full automation control of the technological process of melting;
- for the collection and processing of information on the melting process;
- for automatic control of executive devices based on information coming from the upper level computer;
- for visualization of the process technology to the operator.
CCAU VDP has a three-level hierarchical decentralized structure with distributed control and management functions, ensuring clear structuring, high reliability and ease of operation of the system.
The upper layer is implemented on an IBM-compatible personal computer. The computer accumulates statistical data, generates reports and control algorithms based on them, directly manages the technological process on the basis of the generated algorithms.
The middle level is implemented on a programmable logic controller, which performs:
- data collection from sensors,
- communication with the upper level of the system over the network, and control of the executive devices on the basis of information coming from the upper-level computer.

The lower level includes actuators, sensors, control panels.
The implementation of CCAU VDP allows:
- to introduce a new technology of vacuum arc remelting with a continuous supply of a consumable electrode;
- automate the technological operations of measuring the leakage, pointing the liquid bath, removing the shrinkage shell, previously performed manually;
- keep records and record a large number of melting parameters on two furnaces at the same time;
- stabilize the rate of supply of consumable electrodes by using AC drives.
The specialists of STC "Privodnaya Tekhnika" can perform the following types of work:
